Pat wurde in Bangalore, Indien, geboren. In seiner Geburtsstadt ging er auf die Schule und war dort anschließend einige Jahre Vorarbeiter in einer Textilfabrik, bevor er dann in Kalkutta in einer Metallfabrik, ebenfalls als Vorarbeiter, tätig war.

Pat was born on the 6th of March, 1938 in Bangalore, India. He went to school there and worked as a young man in a factory for textiles before he found employment as a foreman in the metal working industries in Kalkutta.

Es folgten einige Jahre in London als Angestellter in einem Rechungsbüro. Zugleich besuchte er Abendkurse am "Ealing College of Commerce" für Buchhaltung. In London lernte er Gertrude kennen, die Beiden heirateten 1965 und lebten dann etwa eineinhalb Jahre in Österreich. 1968 kam ihr Sohn Johnny zur Welt, das war dann bereits in Bad Aibling.

He left India and years in London followed where he studied at the "Ealing College of Commerce" in the evenings. During the day he worked in an office for accountancy. It was there, in London where he mat Gertrude, they married in 1965 and went to live together in Austria. In 1968 their son Johnny was born, by then they have already come to Bad Aibling.

Noch in Österreich, 1966, hörten Pat & Gertrude per Zufall im amerikanischen Radiosender AFN, dass es in der Bowlingbahn in Bad Aibling / Mietraching eine zu besetzende Stelle gab - eine gnadenreiche Fügung. Zum einen für sich selbst: Pat hatte das gefunden, was er wohl immer gesucht hatte - die Bowlingbahn war sein Leben. Zum anderen war Pat aber auch ein Glücksfall für die Bowlingbahn und alle, die dort verkehrten. Er machte dort so viele Menschen froh und glücklich, nicht nur mit Bowling, vor allem durch seine wunderbare Art.

Still in Austria, 1966, Pat & Gertrude heard by pure coincidence, while listening to the American Radio Station AFN, about the vacancy for a manager of the bowling alley at the U.S: station hier in Bad Aibling / Mietraching - a stroke of fate. On the one hand for himself: Pat had found what he seemed to have wanted all the time - the bowling alley became his life. On the other side Pat became a real blessing for the bowling alley and everybody who went there. He made so many people happy not only with bowling but mainly with his wonderful way with people.

Pat, the "1-Finger Bowler"

Pat war ein lustiger und lebensfroher, geseliger und großherziger Mensch, freigiebig und gastfreundlich. Ganz besonders zeichnete ihn auch die Fähigkeit aus, Menschen zusammen zu bringen - nicht nur Deutsche und Amerikaner damals, sondern jedem, egal wem, vermittelte er das Gefühl dazu zu gehören.

Pat was an outgoing and happy man, loved company and had a big heart, generous and hospitable. And he had the gift to make people meet - not only Germans and Americans at that time. He gave everybody, no matter who, the feeling to belong.

Dann, seit einigen Jahren, litt Pat an einer schweren Krankheit die sich zusehends verschlimmerte. Gertrude und Johnny haben ihn gepflegt und sind ihm so gut es gegangen ist beigestanden. Kurz vor Weihnachten gab es eine plötzliche Verschlechterung seines Gesundheitszustandes und Pat kam in die Neurologische Klinik. Am 24. Dezember empfing Pat die Krankensalbung, noch am Heiligen Abend verstarb er.

Then, a few years ago, Pat contracted a serious illness, which visibly worsened. Gertrude and Johnny took very good care of him and stood by him with as far as possible. Now, shortly before Christmas, his state of health worsened all of sudden and he had to be transfered to the neurology clinic. On December the 24th 2006 he received anointment before he died on Christmas eve.
